It’s called “How I Met Your Father” and the former Disney star Lizzie McGuire is in the lead role. We reveal everything we know (and can) about this new series.
“How I Met Your Mother” (HIMYM) ended more than seven years ago, but we now have great news for all fans of the series. A 10-episode spin-off of the sitcom that brought Robin, Barney, Ted, Lily (and beyond) to life is coming back. It’s called “How | Met Your Father” and features former Disney star Lizzie McGuire as the lead.
And the best part? You don’t have to be worried about the dynamics of this new sitcom, since the pilot episode was directed by Pam Fryman, the director who helmed 196 of the 209 episodes of “How | Met Your Mother.” Not to mention that Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the minds behind HIMYM, are also back and have worked, side by side, with Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger in producing the new spin-off.
“‘Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story: it’s the story of how two writers were lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now pass the torch to a new creative team with their own incredible story to tell. This time, the story of ‘How l Met Your Father.” Bays and Thomas reveal in a statement to Deadline magazine.
“We look forward to helping them tell a new legendary story. Thank you to all the HIMYM fans who have been waiting for this for so long,” they add.
“How I Met Your Father” will have ten episodes and will premiere on January 18 in the United States, on the streaming platform Hulu. It is not yet known where, nor when it will premiere in Portugal. Until then, you can already watch the official trailer for the series, which was released last December 16.
