After two years suspended, the Queima das Fitas is back in the city of Porto, from May 1st to 7th. The meeting point and the party is back to Queimódromo, the procession will be in the city center the event will also pass by performance halls.
After the pandemic, this will be the first big university event in the city. The event will be organized by the Academic Federation of Porto (FAP) in conjunction with the Porto City Council.
Ana Gabriela Cabilhas, president of FAP, emphasizes that they are committed to “bring an event of great quality and innovative, with responsibility and rigor” usual. The burning of the ribbons has about 400 volunteers. The FAP’s strategy continues to pass through the pillars of academic tradition, safety, environment, and cultural promotion.
The works in the Queimódromo require a new organization of the event, the two entities will work to “increase the safety conditions and the comfort of all spectators,” explains the FAP. The construction work in the city center will also affect the location of the parade.
