After Messi found inspiration in the Azores archipelago to launch his clothing line, this time it was Nuno Bettencourt who found in the Azores the solution for a sustainable festival. “Concert for Earth” will have the Sete Cidades Lagoon as its stage and will count on the participation of several well-known artists.
On July 22 and 23, the island of São Miguel will host a festival dedicated to celebrating the planet. The initiative is from guitarist Nuno Bettencourt who stated that this was an old dream. And why not praise our motherland in what is a true lung in the middle of the Atlantic?
In an attempt to celebrate the planet in a positive way, the whole event will revolve around nature preservation. Supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature, the “Concert for Earth” will feature incredible musicians, sustainable performances, and nature conservation activists.
The stage will feature names like the Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull, and the Stone Temple Pillots. The musician Sting, in turn, will participate through a virtual concert. Nicole Scherzinger, who was part of the group The Pussycat Dolls, will be in charge of the presentation.
The call to adopt different behaviors and policies starts from within, and for this reason the festival will have an environmental impact study, as well as the monitoring of carbon emissions.
The festival will be broadcast online and the money raised from ticket sales will be donated to non-profit associations. During the two days local environmental initiatives and organizations will also be promoted.
