You can now make your Navegante card in self-service mode and also load cards for occasional use. All this through Ponto Navegante, the new machine that promises to simplify the process and, of course, avoid queues.
Ponto Navegante has already been implemented in Lisbon and promises to simplify the life of all those who use public transport to move around the Metropolitan Area of the capital.
Do you want to avoid queues and receive your pass immediately? As of this Monday, November 30, you can now make your Navegante card in “self-service” mode through Ponto Navegante. And the best thing? This new machine customizes and delivers your pass on time, in the 18 municipalities where it works, reports TSF.
All you have to do is insert your citizen card into the machine and wait for it to read the data. And yes, the photo on your new pass will be the same as the one on your ID document. Then all you have to do is accept the terms and conditions for issuing and using the card. You can enter your email address to receive the invoice by email.
That said, you just need to make the payment with the ATM card in the machine itself and get the card already valid and loaded with the title of transport. The whole process takes about a minute, according to TML.
So, you can ask for your Navegante card, get it and then charge it, all in the same place and in a self-service regime. All this with no need to “fill in forms, no need for photographs and no waiting around”, says Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) in a statement.
And what are these 18 municipalities? They are Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisboa, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.
Remember that, as of 1 April 2019, the single Metropolitan Navegante pass has been in operation, allowing you to travel around these 18 municipalities for just €40 per month.
If you need to make a new pass (student), you will not be able to do so at Ponto Navegante, as you can only benefit from the discount by submitting a voucher, which you can ask for at your college secretariat. With the student pass, you can travel throughout the entire Lisbon Metropolitan Area for only 30 euros per month.
