If, when you went out with friends, you ended up coming home on a Bolt bike or scooter, you’re going to have to find another solution. We explain why.
If “drinking alcohol” and ‘driving’ were no longer part of the same sentence,“drinking alcohol” and “riding a bike or scooter” will no longer be either. Why?
Bolt has created a new system that tests whether the user is under the influence of alcohol before starting the trip.
If this is the case, the user is prevented from unlocking the scooter or electric bike and cannot start the journey.
This new feature promotes responsibility and safety, not only for those driving, but also for all those who may be on the road. Between Friday and Saturday, from 23:59 a.m. to 6 a.m. of the next day, all users who want to use Bolt’s services will have to pass a cognitive test available on the brand’s app, after scanning the QR code that unlocks the bikes and scooters.
This test assesses the user’s reaction and response time, identifying whether it changes with the presence of alcohol in the blood. If the response time is exceeded or the user does not agree to take the test, the application does not allow the scooter or bicycle in question to be unlocked and recommends that the user travels with the help of a Bolt driver.
The scooter or electric bicycle service is available in 165 cities in 20 countries, in Portugal, it can be found in Lisbon, Braga, Coimbra, Setúbal, Cascais and Barcelos.
